of an Ideal Design Problem
- Real, rather than contrived
- The sponsor
has an interest in a solution
- Support (intellectual
and financial) is provided by the sponsor for out of pocket
expenses
- There is not a rigid
pre-conceived solution required by the sponsor
- The sponsor is interested
in the educational merit of the project as well as the utility of
the project
- The sponsor appreciates
the uncertainty associated with a project and especially while working
with undergraduate students
- The sponsor understands
the university's intellectual property policy and will agree to
it. Note: confidentiality agreements and collaborative agreements
may be negotiated to address special concerns.
- The scope is appropriate
for senior students in the context of a design course environment
(this means that it is a major undertaking for the students requiring
on the order of 10-15 hours per week of work per student)
