The Cell Mechanics Laboratory (CML) investigates the effects of mechanical, electrical,
and chemical stimuli on adult stem cell (mesenchymal stem cell and
adipose-derived adult stem cell) function and differentiation,
with the long-term goal of engineering musculoskeletal tissues that can withstand
the biomechanical and biochemical demands of the in vivo environment.
CML was established in 2003 as a core research facility and service center under
the direction of Elizabeth Loboa, Ph.D. Currently, the CML research team includes
Biomedical Engineering faculty, research assistants, post doctoral fellows, graduate
students, undergraduate students as well as other industrial and academic collaborators.
